15th Anniversary 1994 ~ THE AMERICAN NUTCRACKER ~ 2009 WINTER 2009 Magic can be hard to come by these days, but it is alive and well at the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse this December 2009. Frank Galvez's original production of The American Nutcracker ushers in the season with an extravagant performance full of wonder and surprises set to the original music score by Tchaikovsky and based on the book by E.T.A Hoffmann. Lets celebrate 15 years of history since Galvez created this magical production in 1994 in Fort Lauderdale Florida, and six years since it was first staged here in Brevard for the Galmont Ballet in 2004. He added a unique twist to the story, aiming to create a truly American Nutcracker, set in the North East of the United States of America in the 19th century. Galvez’s production portraits a beautiful old-fashioned Victorian Christmas tree, all decorated in red, white, and blue, thrilling battle scene, exquisite costumes, impressive special effects, illusions, and magical tricks. Although it is a very lavish production, the values of The American Nutcracker remain the same, the celebration of family, tradition, and love, so essential to the holiday season. Frank Galvez infused the ballet with a style that expresses the festivity and ambiance of an American Christmas. December 18 & 19, 7:30 pm December 19 & 20, 2:00 pm For ticket information visit: |
